How it started

One question in a hard year

When lockdown hit South Africa, we watched shortages cut women and girls off from products they could not do without.

It made one thing obvious: depending entirely on disposables leaves you vulnerable. So we asked a simple question. What if there were a reliable, reusable alternative that keeps working regardless of shortages, queues or a tight month?

That question became Mongato.

Mongato Brands sits on the SABS Technical Committee developing South Africa's national standard for period underwear.

We are in the room where the rules for this category are being written, working to make sure every product on the South African market meets a real bar for safety, performance and comfort. Not only ours.

We Care

Why we care

Period anxiety is not only about leaks. It is the cost of disposables month after month. It is a girl missing school because there was nothing in the house. It is being told to keep quiet about something half the population lives with.

Mongato exists to take that anxiety down. Reusable, comfortable, and made to last two to three years. We call it We Care because that is the whole point.
