Cleaning your period underwear
Looking after a pair properly is the difference between two to three years of wear and a pair that stops working in six months. It takes about a minute.
Rinse in cold water first
Cold, not hot. Hot water sets blood into fabric and you will not get it out afterwards. Rinse until the water runs clear.
Then hand wash
Mild soap, by hand. Machine washing shortens the life of the absorbent layers, and our customers who hand wash get noticeably more years out of a pair.
Never use fabric softener
This is the one that catches people out. Softener coats the fibres and reduces absorbency. The pair will still look fine and will not work as well. Skip it entirely.
Air dry, out of direct sun
Do not tumble dry. Heat damages the leak-resistant layer. Hang them somewhere airy and out of direct sunlight, which fades fabric over time.
That is it
Cold rinse, hand wash, no softener, air dry. Do that and a pair will see you through two to three years.
Ready to try a pair?
Three to five pairs cover a full cycle. Most people start with three.
